Bananas Foster Flambé

Have you ever lit BANANAS FOSTER on fire?!

I hadn't until recently, and...turns out it is a whole lot easier than I ever imagined.

Learned a thing or two in the process, too.

Truth be told, using matches made flambéing a bit of a challenge the first time around, and if you do decide to flambé, I'd recommend using a lighter with a long handle to avoid burning your fingers.

Also, make sure you have your ingredients measured and set out next to the cooktop prior to starting.

Bananas Foster Flambé

Breaking down the BANANAS FOSTER FLAMBE, one super simple step at a time, my friends. It really is a SNAP!

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Galliano (or dark rum)
  • vanilla ice cream

  1. Melt butter in a small sauté pan over medium heat.
  2. Stir in brown sugar.
  3. Toss in banana slices, stirring to coat.
  4. Add Galliano (or dark rum), but do not stir.
  5. Light Bananas Foster with a long handled lighter, making sure sauté pan is clear of anything flammable.
  6. Let alcohol burn off.
  7. Spoon sauce over scoops of vanilla ice cream
